Steve,

Let me be the first to welcome you to the blogosphere! I look forward to keeping up with your comments and ideas. You are now part of my blogroll!

Mike

I want to say think you so much for what you are doing. I am a gay man who's faith is extremely important. I serve at my local church as sound and video guy and am out to just a handful of people there. My Pastor is trusted and even counselled me and my EX before splitting up and he was there for me after. But he, in trying to protect me, keeps telling me to say nothing about who I am. This is very difficult in a church I love but I continue. Unfortunately it has gotten so bad I am thinking of leaving the church and I know there is no other around here I can openly attend. It will take many people like you to make a real difference. Thank you again.

Mike, there is no reason to thank me for only doing the right thing. It is you who needs to be thanked for putting up with those of us who, Sunday after Sunday, force you to stay in the closet. God is preparing you for a powerful witness that must be heard in the church. I find it appalling that you and your LGBT brothers and sisters must sit in mute surrender to the forces of heterosexism and homophobia. God’s first “not good” of the Bible was the recognition that “it is not good for [humans] to be alone.” Yet, you and so many others just like you are sidelined, made to feel ashamed, and worship in quiet desperation. I ask you to forgive us for placing you in this untenable situation. I ask God to give all those who know the right thing to do the courage of their convictions.
